GameCube to Wiimote adapter
Here’s a video of a little gamecube pad to Wii Remote adapter that I rigged up. The console sees the adapter as a Classic Controller. It’s missing some buttons (-, home, ZL), but those are rarely used (Start maps to +). This lets me play SSBB, Mario Kart, and VC games using a plain GameCube pad without having to use the questionable Classic Controller, and without a WaveBird. It also works with the System Menu, as you can see in the beginning of the video. Since WaveBirds are out of production, this is probably the only way of using an official Nintendo GameCube pad with the Wii, wirelessly.
The guts: a PIC18F4520 microcontroller, and that’s pretty much it. A couple resistors and capacitors, and the quartz crystal are all that there is to the hardware part. I cut up a Nunchuk extension cord for the Wiimote plug, and made a crappy GC connector out of a piece of circuit board. This uses the Wii Remote’s power supply. The big flashing board that you can see to the left is an FPGA used as a logic analyzer for debugging, but it has nothing to do with the actual adapter (I unplug it halfway through the video).

I just purchased a second hand Wii. I understand there’s a speaker in the Wii Remote. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a sound out of it. Can someone tell me in what game or function it should make a sound, so I can see if it’s busted?
Thanks
press home, click on wii control settings, (the one on the bottom) and click on the sound adjustment and see if you could hear anything.

Resident Evil 4 - Wiimote pt. 1
The PC port of Capcom’s “Resident Evil 4″ (aka Biohazard 4) played with a Wii Remote.
I’m using the “Wii Edition” button mapping and gestures, but motion control instead of IR (due to limitations of the port of the game).
Check out my site www.GlobalDonimation.com for details and to download the GlovePIE script.

Wii Remote Controlled Robot
This robot is composed of Legos and uses a handyboard as the control hardware. It has 4 wheel drive each controlled by a lego motor, and a pan tilt mount for directing light and the video camera. The Wii Remote talks to a MacBook Pro over bluetooth to modified DarwiinRemote software, and the computer in turn communicates with the robot over a serial port. This robot was designed for and used in a small scale demonstration of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) as an assignment in Intro to Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University. Designed, built, and programmed by Andrew Hundt, Boris Lipchin, and Ned Fox at CMU.

Jenga: World Tour for Nintendo WII

Hasbro’s popular stacking game makes its first appearance on Wii with Jenga: World Tour. As in the original, players take turns carefully removing and placing stacked blocks to maintain a tower formation. The first person to topple the tower loses the game. While the video game version features the same premise, it also offers some new twists. These include a variety of colorful themes, such as arctic and medieval backdrops, and an assortment of play-altering power-ups. Players can also challenge the computer AI or a friend, and the control interface makes use of the motion-sensing Wii Remote to manipulate and arrange all 54 pieces. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide Universal

I just bought a wii last week. It worked for a week but then the remote stopped working. I tried changing the batteries but the remote still didnt work so i was wondering if i needed to buy a wii remote charger aswell as new batteries.
you might have to change the batteries or you just have to SYNC! On the front of the wii there is a white top where the memory card goes, on top of that, there’s a big red button. Click it and theres another on the wii remote, do the same and they will combine to let the wii remote work with the wii. (on the wii mote, open the battery top and there is a little red button, press it when the wii is syncing also).
